Welcome to the Dyslexia Centre North West. Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and learning difficulties services for adults and children.

Meet Katie Nelson…

The Dyslexia Centre North West is based in Preston. The service was founded by myself – Katie Nelson. I am an experienced teacher with a primary background. I taught in both Key Stage 1 and 2 for several years before retraining as a dyslexia specialist teacher and assessor in 2010. Since retraining my role has evolved into dyslexia teaching, assessing and training within schools.

We work with ESENDI services which provide specialist support for schools.

At first we didn’t know whether a diagnosis of dyslexia was the way forward for Sarah. I’m so glad that we contacted you! She now has a good understanding of why she finds things difficult and she is now able to work out the hard bits! Her class teacher has commented on the improvement too. We couldn’t be happier.

At the centre, we provide a range of structured, cumulative, multi-sensory tuition services for individuals of all ages with dyslexia, dyscalculia and a range of learning difficulties and have coaches that lead the Cogmed Working Memory programme.

We recognise that dyslexia manifests itself in many ways within children and adults and all tutors are highly experienced dyslexia practitioners and hold a dyslexia specialist qualification. We are a member of the British Dyslexia Association and assessors hold current PATOSS Practising Certificates. All practitioners have a current DBS check. We are able to offer our services to parents and individuals, schools, further education, higher education and the workplace.

We are conveniently located just off the junction 31a (Longridge/Grimsargh Junction). We have a waiting room available where you can help yourself to refreshments.

Thanks so much for everything you have done for us!

John – Father to Kierra, 12
