Overview at a Glance

This is day 1 of 3 of the CPD Level 2 AWARD Dyslexia Awareness, Screening and Practical Solutions.

It is designed to enable practitioners to have a greater understanding of   dyslexia  awareness screening procedures and practical solutions.

Who is it suitable for? This accredited level 2 Programme is suitable for staff that support pupils in the   primary school, including Teaching Assistants, Teachers and SENCos. It is suitable for those who want to become more dyslexia aware, gain a greater understanding of readily available dyslexia screening tools and how to practically support pupils with dyslexia in the classroom. An additional unit is available on Practical Solutions (Interventions and Programmes) for those who aim to be offering further additional support to those with dyslexia.

MODULE 1, day 1 Dyslexia Awareness

Learners will gain a clear understanding of what dyslexia is and examine the differences in a dyslexic brain and how this may translate to the difficulties faced within the classroom. Learners will gain an understanding of what it can feel like to be dyslexic as well as some of the methods of identification. The course will assist learners to be able to explain why it is important to identify dyslexia early and will examine areas of comorbidity.

Learners are required to successfully complete a course handbook as part of the assessment procedures for this module.
